Still very much in its infancy, this vintage of San Pedro's flagship Altair (made up of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, 6% Carménère, 6% Syrah and 6% Petit Verdot), jumps from the glass with cassis, roasted bell pepper and blueberry leaf. It surprises on the palate for its chiseled definition and crunchy vibrancy. The wood, while still very present, is deftly integrated, promising a complex, balanced development. Earl Grey and plum linger on the palate lifted by pink pepper and nutmeg. Fluid and appetising.
