Founded by Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle and her husband Cyril de Bournet in 1994, Lapostolle uses French winemaking expertise to express the Apalta terroir, 200km south west of Santiago. 2021 was a relatively cool vintage, allowing slow maturation resulting in freshness and elegance in the wines. Made from 85% Merlot, 11% Syrah and 4% Grenache, aged 14 months in second- and third-use oak barrels. Dror Nativ MW: Enticing damson fruit with fine toasty notes from the oak and a touch of cedar on the nose. An elegant and well crafted wine. Ben Gubbins: Fairly mature, but the oak is still palpable. Well balanced. Quite structured, with firm tannins and good acidity. Fruit lingers on the finish. Andy Howard MW: Generous, deep. Glossy oak, firm tannins. Lovely ripeness. Ageing gracefully. Layers of flavour, structured, ripe red-leaf fruit with vibrant acidity, Very long, elegant, refined finish.
