From old-vine Carmenère on permeable granite soils, harvested by hand with the fruit mostly destemmed apart from 5% whole bunches. Fermentation takes place spontaneously at moderate temperatures, using daily pump-overs and manual punch-downs. The wine is given 24 days’ post-fermentation maceration before ageing for 16 months, mostly in concrete tanks with 25% in foudres. Alistair Cooper MW: Bright and vivid nose, good palate density. Wonderful structure and precision, plenty of freshness aligned with dark fruits, savoury notes and a long earthy finish. Impressive. Dirceu Vianna Junior MW: Restrained at first, then hints of dark fruits, chocolate, cedar and sweet spices. Quite compact. Exceptional fruit concentration, sophisticated tannins and zesty freshness. David Williams: Dark fruit, cherry, attractive and defined. Very dense but polished palate, young but with lots going on, tannin ripe and firm. Just a touch of salt. Very good.
