Chile

Longaví was founded in 2012 as a partnership between Julio Bouchon and David Nieuwoudt. This wine is sourced from bush vines on granite-based soils with small amounts of clay on a small parcel in Pinihue, Itata. Fermentation is in 2,500L foudre with native yeasts and 30% whole bunches. Not fined or filtered before bottling. Alistair Cooper MW: Liquorice and spiced nose, red fruits beneath. Good energy, rounded mouthfeel with a lovely saline note. Clean and long with detailed tannins. Dirceu Vianna Junior MW: Pure and clear nose, inviting, with delicately perfumed red fruits, cherries and a hint of spice. Silky-smooth, delicious and refreshing. David Williams: Bright and intriguing nose, something a little Italianate about it. On the palate a lovely bright burst of cherry and cherry pit, slinky tannins and nice plum-skin aspertiy to finish.
