Maipo is where Álvaro Espinoza first discovered Carmenère in 1994. Viñedo Escorial shows that high-altitude character of Maipo, with lively freshness on the finish and a dark, spicy edge with notes of graphite, pepper, tobacco and black tea. Sourced from his biodynamic vineyard planted in 2003, the wine is aged 12 months in concrete eggs to retain the purity and power of mountain Carmenère.
