Herbal, meaty, heady almost, this has a lovely forwardness on the nose and palate with sunny ripe fruit; cherries and blackcurrants, and an Autumnal character with hints of wet leaves and rain. Gorgeous freshness and fun, quite sweet almost in the light and juicy fruit, mouthwatering, succulent but still light and delicate in terms of silky texture and elegant weight on the palate. I like the nuance, the hints of flint, pepper, dark chocolate, liquorice and tobacco with a chalky finish from the ferrous soils of this Bollenberg plot. Wild, energetic, balanced and purposeful - a stunning wine.
