First aromas portray quite a rubbery, funky impression, not unpleasant but markedly savoury instead of fruity. The palate comes alive with the electric acidity and juiciness, showing zingy and pure cranberry, raspberry and cherry fruit. There is certainly a little beef stock lingering on the sidelines. A wine which needs food and time. This winery makes over 40 different cuvées - not unusual in Alsace, but impressive considering it has just 16ha of vines. This Pinot is from the Kirchberg de Barr Grand Cru, just cannot be labelled as such.
