With aromas ripe red fruit (plum, cherry, and cassis) and toasty nuances, the wine is notable this year for its 100% Merlot composition, despite a significant proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon in the vineyard. A high tannic index (IPT 76) is less surprising in 2025, reflected in its structure and it is ageing in around 50% new oak. The palate is smooth enough, yet the abundant tannins here lead to a slightly austere edge. There is freshness and a certain gourmand red–fruited core, but the expression remains restrained, and the finish a bit short at this stage. Overall, a solid wine though less charming and expansive than one might hope given its ripe fruit profile.
