A powerful nose - rich and expressive. Slightly austere on the initial attack, although opens and expands to reveal blackcurrant, black cherry and damson flavours alongside sweet liquorice and some saline notes that give the finish a real lift of freshness. Clearly a potent wine with an alcohol level to match, but this has been carefully controlled and well presented with fruit, spice and structure all on show. Nicely complex and ample.
