Vibrant and lively, but rich and concentrated too with such an iron/mineral tang that is very evident and put you squarely in the north Médoc straight away. I like this salty minerality and the blood orange, blackcurrant and juicy plum flavours. Really very minty too, giving lots of classic aromas and flavours with a smooth texture, just grippy tannins and long finish. Really well made here. I really enjoyed this and it has a nice lifted finish too. Incredibly moreish. From a 23ha estate, owned by Jean-Philippe Cazaux, with vines on a mixture of clay, gravel and limestone soils in the village of Blaignan, 10km north of St-Estèphe. Blend of 75% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Petit Verdot, aged 12 months in oak barrels.
