Appetising style with dark, crunchy fruit and a refreshing minty note. Generous fruit on the palate with plenty of energy and zest. Clean, fresh finish. Offers great value.

From a reliable and fairly low-key estate owned by Otto Rettenmaier, made from Merlot and Cabernet Franc on gravel. This is relatively austere, with tight tannins, black fruits, and a powerful, thrusting, forward motion. Finishes a little bit short, and needs time to open up.

Minty, with chocolate and After Eight notes, oaked but not aggressive. Savoury, with a good deal of bitterness, chalky and fine-grained tannins. Heat and power on the palate, with bitter chocolate, sea salt and graphite. Still closed and not fully developed – needs time. The most opulent of the flight.
