Quite a high-toned perfumed nose with a headiness that draws you in straight away. Soft, creamy, juicy and lively, friendly, generous and so full of life with sweet and fresh strawberries on the mid-palate. This has touches of hedonism and exuberance – there’s no lacking in power, fruit, flesh or tannins, but it’s enrobed in this freshness that keeps it from being too heavy. Great energetic finish. I do like this a lot – it walked the tightrope of amplitude, mass and flesh with bright acidity that isn’t too austere. A great wine to seek out this year. Ends cool, stony, blueberry and chalky with cola. 3.6pH. A yield of 25hl/ha.
