Inky ruby in colour with firm fruits on the nose and an attractive aromatic profile for the vintage. It's a little subdued on the attack, needing time in the glass, but the dark fruits make slowly make an appearance on the mid-palate. Again, you feel the fruit scale is fresh to just-ripe rather than anything more, but a juicy freshness carries it off. It needs food to balance that slightly tart finish, but there is a lot to enjoy in this wine, and you can feel the careful extraction and clever use of 33% new oak.
