There is a lovely spicy side to Monlot, a freshness to the fruit without feeling underripe. This is not the most luscious of vintages, but there's a subtle, attractive blueberry and bilberry fruit delivery that adds up to a successful wine with a lovely sense of energy. The grand vin was not affected by frost in 2017, although there is no second wine this year. There was an average yield of 17hl/ha across the entire vineyard, but the grand vin plots yielded a normal 40hl/ha. 25-30% new oak, with the rest in one-year-old barrels. 3.6pH.
