This is the first wine of this vertical tasting in which the barrel aging is aromatically apparent, but that is not to its disadvantage. Nose of mocha, cocoa beans, and smoky elements with graphite and a perfume of blackcurrant bud emerging after aeration. The palate reveals a peppery note and a mouthfeel that is dense and structured with fine tannins, yet it seems more elegant than the nose, especially on the fine-boned, close-knit finish. A rather singular expression of Pichon Baron.
