Incredible value at under €30 from the estate, this is still extremely young, as the 2016 vintage is powerful and will take time to open, but I recommend tracking this down while you still can as it is made in tiny quantities. The wine comes from pre-Phylloxera Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon vines in the northern Médoc. Saline-tipped, savoury cassis bud and liquorice, clear tannic hold but full of life, sap and vigour. Tasted at the property, and again at home, I knew as soon as I had it that it would make this list.
