A top pick from Castillo. Beautiful aromatic intensity on the nose - clean and clear, crystalline with ripe red and black berry scents. Brisk acidity, lots of blackcurrant - really crisp and smooth at the same time. Crushed velvet as there’s gently chewy fruit with a soft, chalky grip but lovely freshness and real intensity of ripe clean fruit. I like the density here, there’s concentration and weight to the tannins with layers of ripe red berry fruit and floral aromatics too. Finishes fruity but with a salty, cola and flint aspect. 4% press wine. Ageing 10% new, 90% one year old barrels. 3.35pH.
