In 2024, yields were so tiny that Rousseau was obliged to blend its Clos de Bèze and Chambertin. The result is a massive, almost imposing wine that is a triumph given conditions. The aromas are initially somewhat closed, but it opens on the palate with ripe black cherry fruit and notes of earth, leather and spice. The texture is tannic and firm – Cyrielle thinks it will take longer to digest the aromas from the barrel ageing. Despite the challenging vintage, this is a lovely success with a long future ahead in the cellar.
