Deliriously aromatic, with a lovely, salty edge, the Montagny premier cru Truffières from Lorenzon is superb in 2024: elegant, concentrated and very long. According to Lorenzon, 'This is the most approachable, so I highlight the spinal column of the wine without artifice.' The aromas include peaches, marzipan and acacia flowers; there is crisp, lively acidity, but enough substance to linger seductively on the palate. The grapes are from almost a hectare of vines; he vinifies them in used 500-litre barrels. 'Montagny doesn’t like wood’, he says, and the results are convincingly beguiling.
