Opens with aromas of pomegranate, currant and cranberry, accented with hints of spice and smoke. The texture is firmly tannic, with a medium body and fresh acidity that draws the wine to a lingering finish. While Irancy can be rustic, this cuvée is silkier than many, with an additional refinement that will please discerning tasters. Pinot Noir here from one of Irancy's top sites is blended with 8% of the local variety César, reputed to have been brought in by Roman soldiers.
