This wine was tasted in Burgundy from a bottle bought at retail. The label was in tatters, but the fill was good; the colour was light but still red. The wine was silky and mature, yet there was still a pronounced fruit aroma of dried currants and fig with notes of dried flowers, spice, black truffle, and exotic tea. The texture was ripe and still holding together well; the tannins resolved, but the wine carried by a rapier-fine acidity that drew the wine to a surprisingly long finish. Although fully mature, it was not in danger of dying soon.
