Headily aromatic, with currant and blackberry fruit, rose petals and anise. The texture is compact, very dense and intensely moreish. The Liger-Belair Echézeaux is among the very best in the appellation. It comes from several different parcels (many in métayage from the Lamadon family), including Les Cruots, Champs Traversin, Clos Saint-Denis and now Echézeaux de Dessus from this year (many of these vines are 70-80 years old). The grapes are gently fermented with the lightest possible pump-overs to avoid over-extraction, and a modest inclusion of whole clusters to maintain the purity of the fruit.
