Maranges

Medium

Cork

Juicy raspberry and fresh cherry, deepened by blackberry, with incense, petals and a whiff of freshly laid asphalt. Tender and fleshy, the palate sets a savoury streak against bright redcurrant fruit, with supple tannins and a pleasing finish. Joyful and instantly appetising, yet subtle and quietly complex. Benjamin and Fanny Duchemin, the seventh generation in Sampigny, farm 70-year-old vines low on the slope, on stony clay-loam over Gryphaea limestone; destemmed, foot-trodden, native yeasts, 12 months in oak.
