The 2006 Montée de Tonnerre was surprisingly lovely and youthful, with ripe apricot fruit aromas and some almost tropical notes, all with a gorgeous floral edge. There was little of the tension and saline minerality in 2006 vintage Chablis, but this has held up well, and the slightly plump, creamy texture on the palate was a delightful surprise. The wine is still surprisingly youthful and should continue to show well for at least another 10 years.
