A bottle of Roumier Musigny shared by a generous host just shy of the 25-year mark was still remarkably youthful, with a reticent bouquet of pomegranate and subtle hints of peony, licorice and cedar. The wine held in reserve its considerable power, and while the texture was firmly tannic and brilliantly fresh it seduced us with difficulty.  Although it is undeniably an impressive wine with enormous potential for development, on the night it lacked generosity and was shy of one's hopes for such a legend.
