This powerful, concentrated wine impresses initially with ripe mulberry fruit, floral notes, and hints of spice and smoke. There is lovely concentration on the palate along with powerful tannins, surprisingly fresh acidity, and abundant extract. The grapes are selected from a 0.37 hectare parcel in the lieu-dit Les Chasserots in Magny-lès-Villers, which faces south-east at 340 metres elevation. Winemaker Alexandre Vernet relates that it is the small ‘millerandé’ grapes that have difficulty flowering that bring concentration to the blend. This wine will open five years from the vintage and drink for a further 20.
