A solid performance from Louis Boillot, Les Croix Noires is Pommard’s third smallest premier cru vineyard that lies on the southern side of the village under Chaponnières, one of its most qualitative crus. The 2011 opens up with a nose of bright cherry, baking spices, a touch of earth and mushroom. Its palate is still more focused on the fruit, making it quite a friendly Pommard on the approach, but the structure suggests its origins, even though the tannins remain fairly polished.
