Almost pungent aromas of grapefruit, smoke and salty minerala announce an extraordinary wine. The texture is vibrant with tension but also concentrated and powerful, with an edge of pleasant bitterness at the end, 'like a river that recharges the mineral,' according to Michel Mallard. The rocky little hill is an outlier north of the main Corton slope; Mallard is ageing the wine in five 350-litre barrels, one new, and a 400-litre ceramic vessel to reinforce the minerality of this special wine.
