Clos de Loyeres is regarded by some as the finest premier cru in Maranges, the southernmost AOP in the Côte de Beaune. The vineyard was planted in 1973. Whole-bunch features prominently here with 22 months in barrel post fermentation. Deep in colour, with pronounced herbal and spicy notes along with dark berry fruit. Soft and voluptuous on the palate, with fine tannins, very restrained oak and subtle oak. Drinking well already, there is plenty of body to encourage keeping for several years.
