This is a wine of stunning beauty with a lovely, sweet fruit coloured with truffle and dried rose petals. Given its age and condition, it is shockingly youthful. The colour is that of old wine, but this is in no way over the hill. Even more surprisingly, we are assured this is the original cork and that the bottle had not been reconditioned. Along with the 1971, this is the vintage I savoured the longest, resolving to leave just a bit of this in my glass forever (or until they kicked me out). Superb.
