The Bois Chevaux premier cru from Thenard boasts a lovely ripe cherry fruit with an edge of violets, earth, and spice. The texture is medium-weight, with firm tannins, fresh acidity, and a slightly rustic edge. The grapes come from an 8.5-hectare east-facing parcel that runs the entire length of the slope; they are destemmed and gently fermented before ageing. In 2021 there are three new barrels, and the balance is ageing in venerable 80-year-old oak uprights.
