This bright, translucent red is emphatically not a wine for keeping, but its cherry fruit is energetic, vigorous and enticing on the nose, and even more enticing on the palate. There's a drenching rain of cherry sweetness freshened by a mist of kernel oils, and it's much better than the `99 Chorey-lès-Beaune I tasted last year. Amid so much beautifully aged grandeur, it was exciting to smell and taste the primary charm of youth. Some regional class should be evident in Bourgogne-level wines to lift them above the level of generic Pinot, and you can see that class here.
