The Dauvissat bottling of grand cru Les Preuses from their holdings of more than a hectare is consistently at the pinnacle of the appellation. A magnum of the 1992 vintage consumed over dinner at the local restaurant l'Hostellerie des Clos was sublime, with a rich bouquet that mingled lime peel and green apple with notes of fresh coconut, hazelnut, and just a suggestion of ground coffee. The tension on the palate was palpable, but the surpassing finesse of the wine was the overriding impression as the finish lingered seemingly forever. This is a wine that improve for decades to come.
