The Clos de la Roche is purchased as wine and, like the Charmes-Chambertin, it's a bit more evolved than the wines vinified by Jadot. Notes of orange rind, pencil shavings and red berries precede a taut, rather austere rendition of this authoritative grand cru, with chewy tannins asserting themselves on the finish.
