A bouquet of crisp white fruit, apple and crushed rocks is followed by a wine with lovely zingy acidity and cut, subtly framed by new oak. Jadot often partially blocks malolactic fermentation to keep the whites fresh, and that has worked really well here. It's a pity only 1 hectare of Clos de Malte is planted with Chardonnay.
