The fairly light lemon-yellow hue of this single-vineyard Pouilly-Loché belies its impressively ripe green apple and grapefruit aromas, edged with a bit of well-integrated oak and some mineral notes. The texture shows a deft balance between rich extract and fresh acidity that carries the wine to a lingering finish. The grapes come from eighty-year-old vines in a clos in the village of Loché. The fruit is pressed as whole clusters before fermentation in cask and ageing. Tasted blind at the BIVB, this was a standout wine from a producer worth discovering.
