This is arrestingly good wine, with pronounced aromas of ripe black cherry and plum, a hint of spice, smoke and a firm mineral underpinning. The fruit was partially destemmed and carefully fermented to avoid over-extraction prior to ageing in mostly used casks, and no sulphur used up until this point. Presently somewhat closed and a bit backwards, but the substance and structure are there to age for years to come - a wine of great potential. From the premier cru down the slope from Chapelle-Chambertin and the base of the Clos de Bèze.
