Morey is revered as a white wine specialist, but he does make some red wines too. This was the debut vintage of this wine, produced from a southeast-facing slope with a stomy clay and limestone soil. The nose is generous and upfront, with juicy red fruits that leap from the glass. Suave and concentrated, it is also quite tannic, and there's plenty of energy here. It's persistent but accessible now, with an invigorating spicy finish.
