Produced from very old vines planted in the centre of the slope on the slightly south-facing Chassagne side. The fruit was harvested in perfectly healthy condition, if somewhat frighteningly high in alcohol. The result is a wine of incredible concentration, with ripe apples and butter. On the palate the texture is dense, almost oily, yet the extended ageing on the lees brings finesse and freshness. This is a big wine, but not out of keeping with the fairly rich character of Bâtard.
