A true garagiste of the Côte des Bar, Amaury Beaufort works with his own plots and with local growers. From his own plot of Pinot Noir in Polisy, this spent 18 months in foudre before bottling. The large-format oak really suits the fruit in the powerful 2020 vintage, with deep, evocative scents of honey, turmeric and roasted spices through apple and baked-apricot fruit that retains a surprising sense of nervosity. It's a broad, dense style of serious impact that speaks of the region's historical ties to Burgundy as much as it does traditional Champagne.
