Produced in Reims for Asda by Chanoine Frères, Louis Bernard Brut is a Champagne made by a maison with a history dating back to 1730. The wine is a blend of 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay. Simon Field MW: Playful bubbles and a nose of nougat, almond with a hint of macadamia. The palate is exuberant and persuasive, a slightly phenolic backstop only serving to underline the seriousness of intent. Alan Bednarski: Fresh and zesty, a harmonic and balanced wine that makes a great example of classic vintage Champagne. Tim Hall: Bread and baking notes to begin with. Has tantalising and excruciatingly tight balance, but it works. Drives well to a puckering finish, but there is so much to come here – a Champagne lovers’ wine.
