Domaine Vincey's ripe, naturally-orientated zero sulphite, zero dosage, 100% barrel-fermented style does open up Le Mesnil's inwardness even in this tight vintage, where a beautiful, sizzling intensity of ripe grapefruit, bitter almond, dried lime and floral honey meets a pointed, but balanced palate which, although strict, stops short of angularity. There's an almost raw, make-up free charm to the expression of this plot of Chardonnay, which sits just above Chétillon de Haut in the village with slightly deeper topsoils and plenty of old-vine concentration.
