As the name suggests, a solera /reserve pérpetulle wine, with no fewer than 14 vintages included, the youngest from 2019 and the most senior from 2002, kept together in five 5,000 litre foudres. Just 970 bottles were drawn in November 2020. Pale gold, the faintest of blushes, and an attractive nose which marries buttered toast, crème brûlée, spice and orchard fruit. There is something Burgundian here, albeit in the guise of a blanc de noirs (sans bulles!), a depth born of complexity and a wonderful ‘otherness’ which, to me, makes this category so exciting.
