This lovely, dense wine is among the treasures of Ambonnay. It is true to the monumental 2008 vintage, with a coppery colour, a rich nose of toasted almonds, brioche, and ripe apple with a hint of smoke. The creamy texture has great persistence but no heaviness on the palate. It is drinking well now but will continue to age for at least another decade. It is a blend of grapes from six parcels that can vary but typically include the Rodez favourites Les Fournettes and La Grande Ruelle; what is always consistent is the superb balance.
