From a single plot of Meunier on the sandy soils of Trigny comes this remarkable red Coteaux Champenois. The vines are affected by the court-noué virus, which concentrates the berries; the end result is a startlingly aromatic, juicy red that feels truly Pinot in character, bursting with brambles, violets and cherry with hints of savour and spice, beetroot and basil, developing nicely thanks to time in bottle and well-judged barrel ageing. It's an accessible yet intriguingly complex red of rare interest.
