The oldest Meunier of the estate goes into Vignes d'Autrefois, planted between 1947 – 1953 in a selection of sites throughout the Coteaux Sud d'Epernay.  Most of the vines are at the base of the slope in fairly dense clay soils that bring structure to the wine.  The base wines are fermented in cask, and malolactic fermentation is not done.  The result shows a ripe apricot and hazelnut fruit with hints of smoke and toast.   The texture is silky, and the fruit has a lovely depth straight through the lingering finish.
