The Blanc de Noirs from Mumm's top RSRV line comes entirely from the grand cru slopes of Verzenay, where the house now owns the famous windmill. The 2018 vintage is an easygoing one in general, producing ripe, pretty wines. This shows some nettle and meadow flower, with a lime zest-like citrus character that suggests it was picked on the early side. Some brown bread and stewed-apple richness is just coming through. There's no drama in this straightforward, clean-cut and approachable blanc de noirs, although it could do with a little more time on cork to settle.
