This vintage of Mumm's long-held specialist cuvée – a reduced-pressure, creamy blanc de blancs from the village of Cramant – is perhaps the finest of recent times, especially in magnum. Caramelised lemon peel, green mandarin and nectarines in cream jump from a sweet-toned, fragrant nose touched by some praline richness and sweet-sour lime syrup. It's far from an intense, chalky or tight blanc de blancs, actually rather open-ended, but with its meringue-soft texture and easy charms it is perfectly tuned for pleasure. In magnum, however, this may surprise with time in the cellar. (Tasted from magnum).
