Third overall in the sparkling category. While the grand cru village of Bouzy is planted principally to Pinot Noir, this grower property has significant holdings of Chardonnay. 2013 forms the base of Les Parcelles XIII, with reserve wines coming from the three preceding years, and it's given a long 48 months on the lees. The low 3.5 g/l dosage makes this positively racy underneath layers of forest berries and pastry, leaving the finish thrillingly firm. I have to admit I missed the profundity of this at first, and it's one of those Champagnes that drinks best out of a larger glass.
