The late-release 2002 Blanc de Blancs from Pol Roger in a creamy, nutty, layered and hedonistic blanc de blancs released at at enticing stage of maturity, as savoury ageing profiles just start to creep in but the fresh picture of the vintage is still on show. Through a cushioned, rounded-out texture come flavours of beeswax, quince and café crème, cooked lime and bergamot citric intensity still vivid whilst a little truffle-honey ageing complexity lurks in the background. It's a blanc de blancs tilted, today, towards sheer pleasure and aromatic generosity. Disgorged in 2013.
